As well as providing a temperature controlled storage environment, Flora Cool has been designed for maximum visual impact - allowing customers to see for themselves the care and quality that goes into their flowers.
This is certainly something that Teleflorist champion Neil Whittaker, NDSF, AIFD would agree with. He's already installed one in his new shop, The Design Element in Manchester, and swears by it. In fact as he said recently, his Flora Cool room was invaluable on Mother's Day because he could pre-make and store hand tieds knowing they'd look as fab when they were sold as they did when they were made. Wastage is down from up to £100 per week to between £5 - £10 per week. His initial investment has paid back within 12 months, so now he's planning to to install one for storage alone! Another advantage has been that customers are prevented from touching and causing damage to the flowers. And Neil is now able to heat the rest of the display area during the winter months.
"Customers love it", says Neil. "It makes the flowers look fantastic, so they're already sold on the freshness. It's a lot easier building a reputation for stylish work when you know the flower quality and vase-life won't let you down"
His Flora Cool room (shown here) measures 3.3m long by 1.5m wide, with 8 vertical fluorescent lights, and has become an important feature of the shop.
